Day in the Life Video Example
The first thing that we would do is contact the client and explain to them our process and insure them that we are there to make the taping go as comfortable as possible and that we are going to be very easy and friendly to work with. This initial "day in the life video consultation" helps a family or client feel more comfortable about a stranger or legal videographer documenting them in a time of pain, suffering and humiliation, which can make for difficult videotaping. After a short telephone interview regarding daily activities, a date is chosen for the day in the life videotaping. An experienced legal videographer will show up at location and spend time documenting difficult daily activities including eating, sleeping, bathing or showering, urinating and bowel movement stimulation, diaper changing, dressing, brushing teeth, family members and heath care providers providing assistance, trips made in vehicles and any other difficult daily activities.
Once the video has been taped, a legal video editor will edit the vide down using cuts and dissolves. Depending on a particular activity and injury, an average day in the life video could be anywhere from fifteen to forty minutes. If it is too short, then a day in the life could appear too easy compared to actual pain and suffering, but if it is too long, then an audience or jury might get tired or bored or have a time limit . . . which is why we advise using an experienced legal video firm to produce an effective day in the life video documentary.
